Reggae music is notorious for taking contemporary mainstream songs and rearranging them in a rub a dub style. Cat Stevens dropped “The First Cut is the Deepest” in the late Sixties. Marcia Griffiths followed up with the classic reggae version, but it doesn’t mean that Rod Stewart and his ridiculous outfit couldn’t make a video for the same track a decade later.
